On Sunday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Anzalduas International Bridge seized more than $1.1 million worth of narcotics. A canine unit alerted officers during a secondary inspection of a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500, leading to the discovery of 24 packages hidden inside stationary bike rollers, as reported by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the packages contained 15.28 kilograms of fentanyl and 11.56 kilograms of cocaine. Port Director Carlos Rodriguez stated, “This seizure showcases our officers’ relentless efforts to secure the border and prevent dangerous drugs from reaching our communities.”
Homeland Security Investigations took over the case after the seizure, launching a criminal investigation into a possible drug trafficking network. U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that both the narcotics and the vehicle used for transportation were confiscated, and the investigation is ongoing.
