The "Cruisin' into the Next Chapter" Classic Car and Truck Show took place last Saturday in Yolo, drawing over 900 attendees. The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Yolo Branch Library and the Yolo County Library, featured more than 100 classic cars and trucks, according to the Yolo County.
At the Yolo County car show, Michael McGinnis's 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air won "Best of Show," while Johnny Cano's 1948 Chevrolet Fleet Master earned the “Fire Chiefs’ Hot Pick,” an accolade from local fire department representatives. Attendees also saw twelve additional awards across categories like "Best Motor" and "Best Paint Job," as detailed by the Yolo County. The event featured a Lowrider Bike Show for children, where decorated bikes captured the spirit of classic automotive style. Jose Solorzano won the “Scout’s Choice” award for the 26” Lowrider Bike category, a nod from Yolo Woodland Scout Troop 69, with other young winners in the 16” and 20” categories keeping the tradition of customization and personal expression alive.
The "Cruisin' into the Next Chapter" event featured classic cars and trucks, free face painting for kids, and a sustainability section from Yolo County Integrated Waste Management. All proceeds will support library programs and services, according to the Friends of the Yolo Branch Library. The event involved volunteers and local businesses.
