
Tragedy struck on a Sacramento road Wednesday afternoon when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle. The Sacramento Police Department reported the incident occurred just after 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Del Paso Road and El Centro Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male pedestrian down in the roadway. Despite attempts at lifesaving measures, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire personnel. The Sacramento Police Department has stated that the driver of the vehicle has sustained injuries and displayed signs of intoxication, leading to an arrest while remaining hospitalized.
Following the collision, detectives from the Major Collision Investigations Unit and Crime Scene Investigators were summoned to take over the site. They processed the scene, canvassed the surrounding area, and interviewed witnesses in the wake of the tragedy, wearing uniforms and carrying equipment, tasked with piecing together the moments before impact. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once the next of kin have been notified.
