
A tragic incident unfolded on North Community House Road last night when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a van. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Vidal Zinczuk Jr., was hit around 10:32 p.m. and succumbed to life-threatening injuries at the scene, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The driver of the involved Chevrolet Express van remained at the location of the crash, and, no injuries were reported from their side. Responders included Charlotte Fire and MEDIC units, along with crime scene investigators who arrived shortly after the incident.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit, alongside the DWI Task Force, are delving into the circumstances that led to the collision. Initial findings suggest that the van was traveling north when it collided with Zinczuk as he crossed the road. While autopsy and toxicology results are awaited for the deceased, it remains unclear how factors such as speed, visibility, or impairment might have contributed to the tragedy.
