
Philadelphia is preparing to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy and Marine Corps with events scheduled in October and November. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker is set to attend a final planning session today for the celebration, which is being organized jointly by the City of Philadelphia and the City of Camden, as per the City of Philadelphia release.
The planning meeting at the Philadelphia Marriott Old City brings together federal, state, and local officials, along with business and community stakeholders, to finalize details such as security, logistics, and event execution. Mayor Parker is scheduled to join the session at 9:00 a.m.
The anniversary will be observed along the Delaware waterfront and will involve collaborative efforts between the two cities and the military. The planned events are designed to honor the history and legacy of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
