Placer County’s annual Recovery Happens event will take place on September 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Recreation Park in Auburn. According to Placer County, the event will bring together community members to recognize recovery from addiction and mental health challenges.

Placer County will host Recovery Happens as part of National Recovery Month and Suicide Prevention Month, featuring motivational speakers, information booths on local recovery and mental health initiatives, free food, entertainment, activities for all ages, and a free raffle. The event, expected to draw hundreds, is part of ongoing community efforts to address opioid and mental health crises. “This day reminds us that recovery isn’t just about surviving; it’s about thriving, reconnecting and building a life you’re proud of,” said Amy Ellis, director of Placer County’s Adult System of Care.

Placer County’s Recovery Happens event will provide resources for treatment, peer counseling, and crisis services. It is organized by the county’s behavioral health team with support from the Behavioral Health Advisory Board and community organizations. Information on year-round treatment, prevention, and crisis support is available by calling 888-886-5401.
