The Placer County District Attorney's Office has updated the public on a recent attempted rape case via a social media post. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Sergiy Fedchyk, has been formally arraigned on several counts, including attempted rape and sexual battery. The announcement described the incident in question as having occurred on August 3rd at a local park, when a 911 call was made by a victim who was being chased and attacked. The swift response of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office led to Fedchyk's apprehension.
According to the District Attorney's statement, Fedchyk made his first court appearance but asked for the arraignment to be delayed so he could ensure his own attorney's presence. The court granted his request, and the arraignment was rescheduled for August 12 at 1 p.m. He is currently being held without bail, a decision made at the behest of the prosecuting office.
