A historic market in Placerville, known for its food, snacks, and local gifts, was vandalized on Monday morning, causing thousands of dollars in damage. The suspect broke a window to enter Market on Main, then damaged wooden panels, used a fire extinguisher, and tore out a bathroom sink, according to CBS News Sacramento.

A video showed the damage from the burglary, including broken glass and shelves. Charissa De Leon told CBS News Sacramento that they were shocked to find their historic building and business in disarray after waking up to several missed calls. No merchandise was taken, but the damage to the building and market equipment has caused significant costs for the owners.

The De Leons are upgrading their security system and adding outdoor lighting after a vandalism incident, and a GoFundMe has been set up to help cover losses. The suspect, 30-year-old Jeremy Fagan, damaged the café but did not touch expensive equipment, so it stayed open. Anthony DeLeon said, "This sink was completely ripped off the wall and upside down with glass and debris and everything everywhere," and his wife Charissa noted the emotional impact on the family, as reported by KCRA. Fagan is being held on felony vandalism and second-degree burglary charges, and authorities have not shared a motive.
