A spate of gunfire erupted near a park in Brighton Heights, Pittsburgh, prompting an investigation by local police. According to WPXI, officers responded to two ShotSpotter alerts totalling 27 rounds at approximately the 600 block of Brighton Woods Road, near Jack Stack Playground. Upon arrival, police discovered a multitude of shell casings and a vehicle with a handgun visible on the floorboard, which was later towed pending a search warrant.
Not long after police arrived, a man with a minor head injury was taken to a nearby hospital. He was in stable condition, and his injury seemed to be connected to the earlier incident on Brighton Woods Road.
Adding to the account, CBS News reported that the incident occurred shortly before 1:15 a.m. on Monday near the Jack Stack Pool. Notably, the report expressly mentions seeing the Pittsburgh Police Mobile Crime Unit at the scene processing evidence, which could potentially furnish investigators with leads about the irregular night.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as details about the incident—including the identity and current condition of the wounded man—have not yet been released.
