In Polk County, authorities are searching for Angel Gonzalez-Morales, the prime suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in a motel parking lot. According to FOX 13 News, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Gonzalez-Morales is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

The victim, identified by WFLA News as Elijah Johnson, was found by deputies with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was breathing but unresponsive when first responders arrived and later died from his injuries.

Authorities said Gonzalez-Morales was believed to be a passenger in a vehicle near the motel before fleeing toward a wooded area behind hotels east of US 27 and north of I-4. His current location is unknown.

Sheriff Judd told WTSP that anyone who sees Gonzalez-Morales or knows his whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
