Authorities in Portland are seeking information on a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident that severely injured a bicyclist on the Morrison Bridge. According to the Portland Police Bureau, the collision occurred yesterday at approximately 8:29 a.m., amid the rush of the Bridge Pedal event. The injured male cyclist, who was not a participant in the event at the time of the crash, was found midspan on the bridge suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was quickly attended to by the police and transported to the hospital.

The driver responsible initially stopped their vehicle after the crash but then fled the scene before police arrived. A search carried out by several officers from both the Central Precinct and Traffic Division was unable to locate the suspect vehicle. A family member of the cyclist stated that he was on his way to join the Bridge Pedal, thus suggesting he was not among the swarm of cyclists dominating the eastbound lane, which was closed for the event.

The police are on the lookout for a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck described as "dirty," with black wheels, possibly a missing left-side gas cap, and visible objects in the truck bed. The absent plates and potential front grille damage might be telltale signs of the hit-and-run vehicle. As per a statement from the Portland Police Bureau, the suspect driver is described as a “middle-aged” white or Hispanic man, noted for being “taller” and bald.

The Portland Police Bureau has released an image of the suspect vehicle, requesting anyone with information to come forward. As part of the ongoing investigation, witnesses and individuals with evidence related to a crash are urged to reach out through email to [email protected], referencing case number 25-215805.
