Last week, the roads of Precinct 4 were the scene of a significant crackdown on intoxicated driving as deputies under the command of Constable Mark Herman apprehended a total of 19 individuals on suspicion of drunk driving. These arrests came as a result of traffic stops where each driver exhibited clear signs of impairment. In an effort to absolutely confirm their state, standardized field sobriety tests were conducted, affirming the suspicion of intoxication.
Among those detained, repeat offenders were noticeably present, with Demichael Franklin and Marty Jackson facing third-time felony charges, while Hosea Harris, Zeeshan Subhani, and Alexandria Bradford were booked for their second-offense. Edgar Baquiax was singled out to additionally be charged with assault, adding a layer of severity to his case. Following these incidents, all suspects were processed, confined at the Harris County Jail, and are awaiting their respective charges.
Constable Herman reinforced the perils of DUI, quoted as saying, "Every one of these arrests represents a potentially tragic crash that was prevented," and "Drunk driving destroys lives. Please make the right choice — your life, your family’s life, and the lives of others on the road depend on it," as reported by the Precinct 4 Facebook page. This cautionary statement was disseminated through the precinct's social media, underscoring the importance of responsible driving and the impact of making poor decisions behind the wheel.
