A Quincy man finds himself in the grips of the legal system after local law enforcement clamped down on what appears to be a significant drug trafficking operation. Nghia Van Huynh, 33, was taken into custody by the Quincy Police Department's Drug Control Unit (DCU) on Thursday, after detectives sprang into action in West Quincy around 1:45PM on Turning Mill Lane, according to a post on the Quincy Police Department's social media.

The arrest, stemming from an investigation into illegal drug activity, also precipitated a search warrant for Huynh's residence. The haul from the search was substantial; detectives seized approximately 8.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, in addition to over 600 grams of ketamine, 16 grams of cocaine, 390 grams of MDMA, 400 grams of synthetic cathinones also known as bath salts, 7 lbs of marijuana, 400 vape cartridges, and hallucinogenic mushrooms (Psilocybin), together with an illegal firearm, ammunition, and over $61,000 in U.S. currency.

Huynh is facing a slew of charges, including trafficking more than 200 grams of methamphetamine, as well as multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute substances ranging from Class A to Class D. The charges also include conspiracy to violate drug laws, several firearm-related offenses, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. His arraignment took place yesterday in Quincy District Court.
