A Rialto woman, identified as Destiny Coles, has been taken into custody by investigators in connection with a string of mail thefts in the Lytle Creek area. Local law enforcement officials announced her arrest on Thursday, stating that Coles, 26, is suspected of participating in the forced entry and theft from multiple mailboxes at a United States Post Office.

The incident in question unfolded on Sunday evening, when Coles, alongside two unidentified male suspects, purportedly broke into several locked mailboxes and made off with undisclosed quantities of mail and packages. A bystander managed to snap a photo of the getaway vehicle as it sped from the scene. It was later identified as a white 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, registered to Coles.

On Wednesday, detectives from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station intercepted the suspect vehicle. Upon searching the car, authorities reportedly found over 100 pieces of stolen mail, materials related to identity theft, and a cloned United States Postal Service master key. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reported that the intercepted mail had been taken from several cities, including Lytle Creek, Fontana, Rialto, San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Colton, and Highland. Coles has been booked into the West Valley Detention Center, where she is being held without bail.

As the investigation progresses, the Fontana Sheriff's Station has released a photo of the suspect vehicle, hoping it will assist in identifying more victims and aid in the search for the other two suspects. Detectives and U.S. Postal Service inspectors are soliciting the public's help and have issued a call to action for anyone with potentially relevant information. In a statement shared by the Sheriff's department, individuals with knowledge pertinent to the case are encouraged to contact the Fontana Sheriff's Station directly or to provide anonymous tips through We-Tip.

Destiny Coles is currently facing charges related to the thefts. However, the broader implications of the case, particularly concerning the cloned postal key, suggest that the incidents may be part of a more extensive criminal operation.
