Residents and commuters in Burien may want to plan for a slight detour in their travel routes next week. The City of Burien announced via its social media channels that starting today, 6th Avenue SW will be closed to local traffic at SW 148th Street. The closure will allow for the installation of underground utilities as part of the 148th Avenue SW Intersection Improvements Project, an initiative aimed at enhancing the area’s infrastructure.
The necessary work is scheduled to extend over a few days, with the road expected to reopen right after the concluded labors on August 22. According to the City of Burien's post, detours will be clearly marked to assist the flow of traffic around the construction zone. Furthermore, the Burien Community Center will remain accessible, but the entry will be diverted to SW 146th Street during this period of roadwork.
For additional updates and details about the road closure and the ongoing project, the public can visit the City of Burien’s Facebook page or the city's official website.
