At a City Council meeting held on Monday, the organization presented a check amounting to $220,535, confirming their commitment to enhancing the local parks and recreation scene. These funds, as reported, will facilitate a series of improvements, ranging from the replacement of Emmett Scott gym floor to the provision of scholarships and art and sports supplies.
A statement obtained by the City of Rock Hill website unveiled that Toy Rhea, the Board Chair for the Rock Hill Parks Foundation, highlighted the success of the fiscal year 2025 fundraising initiatives, which brought in over $100,000. The sum contributed at the council meeting is a continuation of the Foundation's philanthropy which, since 2018, has seen more than $920,000 dedicated to parks, recreation, and tourism enhancements.
Adding a new dimension to their operational structure, the Parks Foundation has recently acquired its non-profit status. This development is accompanied by a strategic financial realignment as the Foundation is transitioning their funds to First Citizens Bank, a local financial institution, which amplifies their integration into the community's economic fabric.
According to the City of Rock Hill's announcement, the local community can engage with and contribute to these growth initiatives through the Parks Foundation.
