Rockville's Stella Werner Council Office Building is set to reopen its second-floor public entrance on Maryland Avenue starting tomorrow, after a period of renovations aimed at enhancing public use spaces and safety measures. The entrance, identified by a brown canopy at the corner of East Jefferson Street and Maryland Avenue, had been temporarily relocated for the duration of the upgrade work, but now residents and visitors can once again use this entry point for access to the building's new amenities.
One of the key additions is an area for community members and visitors to meet, along with the introduction of a grab and go food vendor which will open its doors on September 1, according to an announcement by Montgomery County Council. Besides these features, the security station has found a new home on the second floor to facilitate better control and oversight of the building's traffic while the previously used temporary public entrance will revert to being an employee-only access point. Signage to guide visitors to the rightful entrance will be installed.
In addition to the newly reopened entrance on the second floor, the Council Office Building offers an accessible first-floor public entrance situated next to the public parking garage, which can be reached from East Jefferson Street in Rockville. For more information on the renovated spaces or entrance access, the Council advises the public to visit their official website.
