Last Friday, August 22, Michael Person, entangled in legal woes, faced the music for his crimes as a Sacramento Court issued its judgment. The Sacramento District Attorney’s Office announced that Deputy District Attorney Megan Adame led the prosecution, which concluded with Person’s conviction on several counts of drug and firearm offenses.
With the Honorable Carlton Davis presiding, Person was sentenced following a conviction for possession with intent to sell substances such as cocaine and fentanyl. This sentencing came two years after Citrus Heights police officers executed a traffic stop on August 10, 2023, discovering narcotics and an array of firearms in a vehicle where Person was found as a passenger, including loaded handguns and two AK 47s.
The conviction also covered seven counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, casting a long shadow over Person's already checkered past. The cache of illegal contraband found with him was sizeable – over a hundred rounds of ammunition and body armor were among the seized items, painting a grave picture of potential violence thwarted.
Details provided by the DA's office outlined that along with the drugs, a loaded handgun, four other firearms, two AK 47's, an ample stash of over a hundred rounds of ammunition, and body armor – items that hint at the seriousness of Person's intentions – were also unearthed during the search of the vehicle. The case #23FE012682 verdict thus brought closure to an investigation that started with just a routine traffic stop.
