San Antonio’s cityscape could undergo significant changes with the proposed sports and entertainment district currently under council consideration. During last Wednesday’s City Council B Session, Councilmember Phyllis Viagran voiced support for moving forward quickly, stressing the need for prompt action in the City Manager’s negotiations with the San Antonio Spurs to finalize the term sheet essential to the district’s development.
"The sooner we move forward, the better positioned we’ll be," Viagran proclaimed, according to the City of San Antonio's news release. There is an effort to advance the proposal to an A Session without delay, a step considered essential for expediting discussions and ensuring the County tax vote scheduled for November takes place in time to reflect public consensus.
Viagran has emphasized incorporating community feedback into the foundation of the proposed downtown San Antonio development. The initiative remains in the negotiation stage and, if implemented, would mark a significant project within the councilmember’s tenure, with the potential to alter the city’s center.
