An unsettling narrative played out on TikTok ending with a 23-year-old man arrested on murder charges. Naqibullah Habibzoi stands accused of using the social media platform to broadcast his intentions and involvement in the killing of Awal Noor Kiftan, as per Fox San Antonio. The 34-year-old Kiftan had been shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene of the May 31 shooting on the 9000 block of Dartbrook Drive in San Antonio.
According to the police, Habibzoi's TikTok account provided a digital footprint of his dispute with the victim over a sum of $31,000. In one particular post, Habibzoi seemed to signal a vengeful motive by stating, "We never move on without taking our own revenge," according to Fox San Antonio. However, after the posts were removed, Habibzoi claimed his account was compromised, suggesting a hack had occurred and his account was being used to frame him surreptitiously.
Investigators, piecing together the digital evidence and Habibzoi's past connection to Kiftan through a trucking company they both worked for, found more than incriminating posts. A voice call, obtained by investigators, revealed Habibzoi allegedly admitting to the murder, declaring that his heart was "pleased and satisfied," as detailed by KCEN-TV. This, coupled with digital records, corroborated his presence in San Antonio on the fatal day, strengthening the case against him.
Further damning for Habibzoi was the evidential trail of his journey captured by license plate readers, tracking his vehicle from Houston to San Antonio at the time of the murder. After his arrest, Habibzoi was booked virtually into the Bexar County jail, with procedures pending for extradition back to Bexar County to face the charge laid against him. No information has been released on when the extradition will take place.
