
San Rafael Police Department officers, in a recent effort to quickly respond to and mitigate a spate of violent activity within the community, made an arrest last Friday that possibly thwarted further crime. According to a social media post by the San Rafael Police, when the officers approached a double-parked vehicle on Novato Street that was impeding the flow of traffic, they observed the driver's attempt to surreptitiously stash something beneath the seat, revealing the barrel of a handgun.

Upon detaining the driver, officers not only recovered the loaded firearm but also uncovered drugs within the vehicle. The driver now faces multiple felony charges, including "carrying a loaded and concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, and additional drug-related charges." The San Rafael Police Department heralded the incident as a strong example of proactive policing designed to ensure public safety and actively prevent violence in the community.
