The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) has taken to social media in a novel approach to solving cold cases of missing adults. Since January 2024, the department has been reviving interest and generating new leads through their successful Missing Person Monday campaign. The initiative, which presents various unresolved disappearances to the public eye via platforms like Facebook, has found some tangible success, according to a recent social media post by the Santa Rosa Police.
In the weeks following the commencement of this campaign, notoriety touched one individual who had vanished, bringing them back into the community's fold. "Almost immediately, our agency was able to locate one individual," SRPD shared on their social media page. The effort continued to bear fruit, with five missing adults located by the close of the inaugural campaign, including one individual who had been missing since 2005.
Santa Rosa Police recently embarked on a third iteration of the campaign, promising to unveil several new cold cases each week. The police have urged the public to report any immediate sightings to the relevant authorities at 707-528-5222 for local Santa Rosa sightings or otherwise to respective local law enforcement agencies.
For tips that might heat these cold cases, the Santa Rosa Police directs individuals to their Violent Crimes Investigations Team tip line at 707-543-3590. The plea to the public is clear: "Please continue to visit our social media pages each, share the information on your pages to spread the word, and help us bring resolution to our missing adults and their families."
