Authorities have made a second arrest in connection with a 2023 fatal shooting at Del Rio Apartments in Tampa. Jaylen Whittaker, 24, was taken into custody on Monday and faces a first-degree murder charge in the killing of 29-year-old Leon Michael Washington, FOX 13 News reported.
The shooting occurred on May 29, 2023, at 2:15 p.m. Deputies responding to emergency calls found Washington fatally shot in front of the apartment complex, according to WFLA.
Initial reports indicated there was no ongoing threat to the community, abc Action News reported.
The investigation has continued over the past two years, leading to this second arrest. Authorities will provide additional details as the case progresses.
