Rowan County deputies and firefighters responded to a single-car accident on Long Ferry Road today. A social media post from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office reported that the crash resulted in the arrest of burglary suspect Steven Eugene Bracken II. The Miller Ferry Fire Department arrived at the scene around 3:29 a.m. and confirmed that Bracken matched the description of a suspect in a recent break-in.
When deputies arrived, they discovered items from the burglary inside Bracken's Ford Taurus. Bracken reportedly confessed to being at the scene of the burglary and had been confronted by the homeowner. Despite a shot being fired at him, he did not appear to have any injuries from the incident. The Sheriff's Office states that Bracken was charged with Breaking and Entering (Misdemeanor) and Larceny After Breaking and Entering (Felony), and his bond set at $50,000.00.
