South Korean conglomerates SNT Motiv and SNT Energy are embarking on a significant expansion into the United States with the announcement of a new $59.4 million joint venture for a consolidated manufacturing facility in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. This deal, which was publicized in an article by the Opportunity Louisiana, marks a major step in establishing a domestic supply chain to support U.S. industries including defense, automotive, energy, and more.

With expectations of creating 275 direct new jobs and an additional 418 indirect jobs, as estimated by Louisiana Economic Development, the facility is projected to significantly benefit the local economy. "SNT's decision to launch its first consolidated U.S. manufacturing facility in West Baton Rouge is exactly the kind of global investment our 9×90 plan is designed to deliver," Susan B. Bourgeois, LED Secretary, announced in anticipation of high-wage job opportunities for the people in the region, as stated by the Opportunity Louisiana.

Already supplying air coolers for Bechtel’s project with Woodside Energy in Calcasieu Parish through their SNT Energy division, the company is no stranger to the area. The new facility will further SNT's presence in the U.S., with SNT Motiv slated to service clients such as General Motors. "We are very excited to be able to work more closely with world-class engineering companies and the end customer for timely and better services for process industries by bringing our world class precision specialty manufacturing capabilities to the state of Louisiana," SNT Energy CEO Hyung S. Kim told the Opportunity Louisiana.

The site in Brusly, a former Trinity Marine Products building lying vacant since 2015, is anticipated to start operations in the spring of 2026. The initiative has garnered support from local officials with West Baton Rouge President Jason Manola expressing excitement over the strengthened manufacturing and petrochemical equipment supplier base, while looking forward to collaborating for improved access infrastructure. "We are thrilled to welcome SNT to West Baton Rouge," was the sentiment voiced by Anna Johnson, Executive Director of the West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, highlighting the impact of such an investment on the community's economic development and self-sufficiency, as reported by the Opportunity Louisiana.

Attracting SNT's investment included a competitive incentive package from LED, which features workforce development solutions from LED FastStart, and anticipates the company's participation in the state’s Industrial Tax Exemption and High Impact Jobs program. The Baton Rouge Area Chamber is already gearing up to offer continued support for SNT Energy. "We are delighted to welcome SNT to Louisiana’s Capital Region," Baton Rouge Area Chamber President and CEO Lori Melancon said, looking forward to the burgeoning partnership, as per the Opportunity Louisiana.
