Early yesterday morning, a traffic collision involving two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Carol Dr. and Ayers Ln. in Galt. The Galt Police Department responded to the scene after reports suggested that at least one person might have been ejected from a vehicle. However, it was later clarified that the driver had self-extricated.
According to a social media post by the Galt Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:25 a.m. An overturned Dodge pick-up truck was discovered by officers, next to which a male subject was found lying on the ground. Although the man was breathing, he was unresponsive and required immediate medical attention. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital by the Cosumnes Fire Department, suffering from non-life threatening injuries, the police statement detailed.
The preliminary investigation into the crash reveals that the Dodge pick-up was speeding and failed to obey the stop sign. The vehicle then struck a Toyota Prius, already in the midst of a turn onto northbound SR-99. The force of the impact sent the Dodge airborne, flipping it onto its side. The driver of the Toyota was able to leave the scene without the need for medical treatment.
Authorities have established that drugs, and alcohol did not have a role in the cause of this crash.
