Get ready for a spooky stroll through Downtown Wake Forest this fall, as the "Spirits of Wake Forest" ghost walks make their return. Organizers at Wake Forest Downtown, Inc., and partners at Firebox Theatre Company have announced that these eerie expeditions will be available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from September 25 through October 30. Enthusiasts can join the tours at the following times: Thursdays and Fridays at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Saturdays at 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.
During these ambulatory tales of the supernatural, participants will unravel stories of tragic train wrecks, unsettling folklore, and wandering spirits. According to the official announcement published by Wake Forest NC Government, this event promises to unearth a small portion of Downtown's haunting past. Tickets for the event are priced at $20 and go on sale at noon on September 4. An advance purchase is required, and considering their popularity, early booking is recommended as tickets are notorious for selling quickly.
The guided tours will commence outside the Wake Forest Town Hall and last for roughly 75 minutes, traversing the storied business district on South White Street. Note that the tours are limited to public spaces and will exclude private residences. While the walks are suggested for individuals aged eight and up, parents have the discretion to bring younger children, and all minors under 17 must have adult accompaniment. Also, while pets are loved, they will have to sit this event out as attendees are respectfully asked to leave them at home.
Wake Forest Downtown, Inc.'s mission to promote the economic well-being and growth of Downtown is fueled by such events. WFD’s volunteer committee plans out the ghost walks, and all proceeds from the ticket sales are considered donations to the nonprofit. The organization and the event have garnered ample sponsor support for 2025. Partners include the likes of Town of Wake Forest, Brightspeed Fiber Internet, and Johnson Hyundai of Wake Forest, among various other local businesses.
