The St. Louis County Police Department is currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred last Friday evening, in which a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle. The accident took place at the intersection of New Halls Ferry Road and Sugar Pine Drive, according to the St. Louis County Police Department's press release.
Responding to an emergency call at 9:33 p.m., officers from the North County Precinct arrived at the scene to find an adult female who had been struck by a motor vehicle. After having been transported to a hospital, the woman unfortunately died from her injuries. Though details surrounding the incident remain under investigation, it has been disclosed that the woman was in the roadway at the time of the collision and that the driver involved is cooperating with authorities. Struck by a vehicle, preliminary inquiries suggest the pedestrian may have been on the roadway at the time of the accident.
The identity of the woman has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons along with Accident Reconstruction detectives are handling the ongoing investigation to piece together the circumstances of the fatal event.
