A weekend outing turned tragic for a St. Louis man who drowned while swimming in a private lake in Bollinger County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has reported that the incident occurred on Saturday around 12:30 p.m., roughly four miles north of the small town of Patton, as denoted in a FOX 2 report.
The man, 30 years old, submerged and failed to come back up for air while swimming, and despite efforts made to rescue him, he was pronounced dead at the location before 1:45 p.m. by the Bollinger County Coroner's Office, this event reminds us of the ever-present unpredictability that cloaks our interactions with nature; it provides no safety net, the Coroner's Office informed KFVS 12.
According to the incident report, the victim was not wearing a life jacket at the time of his fatal swim.
