A 30-year-old man, Troy Devante Story, has been sentenced to serve 22 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a series of charges including assault and armed criminal action. The conviction stems from a violent incident on November 3, 2023, in which Story tracked down and shot his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, as detailed in a report by the Circuit Attorney's Office.
According to the facts of the case, Story used an app to locate his ex-girlfriend and proceeded to aggressively open fire on her and her companion as they were seated in their Alfa Romeo, located on the 4600 block of Korte in the Penrose neighborhood. The male victim, who was in the passenger seat, was struck in the temple by a bullet. Despite the female victim's efforts to quickly drive away to safety, Story continued his assault.
The Circuit Attorney's Office's report notes that upon arrival, investigators found the vehicle's passenger and rear windows shot out. The male victim later identified Story as the assailant in a photo lineup. During questioning, Story confessed to the shooting, revealing that his actions were spurred by anger over the breakup with his former girlfriend.
"We will aggressively prosecute gun violence that results from inter-personal disputes to the fullest extent of the law" Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore stated, underscoring the Circuit Attorney's Office’s stance on such cases.
