Starbucks is bringing back its seasonal favorite, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, with the nationwide rollout starting tomorrow. According to Local10, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back for its 22nd year and returns with company. Joining the seasonal favorite are the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai, and two newcomers: the Pecan Oatmilk Cortado and Italian Sausage Egg Bites.
Aligning with the surge in popularity of plant-based options, the Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte also reappears on the scene. After introduced last year, Seattle-based Starbucks is hoping to replicate the success with the introduction of Pecan Cold Foam. Looking to spice things up, the fall lineup also includes the new Pecan Cold Foam, as outlined in a menu preview released by CBS News. Their Cold Foam varieties have seen a noticeable 23% growth year-over-year, a nod to the ever-changing tastes of their clientele.
But it's not just about beverages – the fall flavor festival extends to the food with the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin and an offbeat inclusion, the Raccoon Cake Pop. As the brand looks to diversify its gastronomic autumnal offerings, consumers will have the chance to wrap their taste buds around something new on nearly every visit.
However, despite this cascade of pumpkin pandemonium, Starbucks finds itself in not-so-sweet waters. According to a recent earnings call, sales in the U.S. have taken a 2% dip. CEO Brian Niccol remained optimistic, telling CBS News, "I, like many customers, love the Pumpkin Spice Latte." Niccol, having shared during the July 29 earnings call, expects a boost in customer traffic eager for their PSL fix. "There's going to be a lot of customers that come into our business," said Niccol.
