The Statesville Police Department has shared a status update on the expansion of their facilities and the construction of a new parking deck, indicating progress in both areas. The update details the advancement of construction work, explaining that there have been significant developments both above and below ground.
The department's social media post outlines, "Crews have poured the west side footings where conditions allowed and are now working to form the back wall, which will be poured soon." It also mentions the completion of the elevator floor and the ongoing work on the north side footings, which is a critical part of the parking structure's infrastructure. The team will soon proceed to pour footings on the east side after they complete the current drainage work.
Additionally, the announcement includes plans relating to the police department building itself. They are preparing the building pad for the new expansion and expect to start footing installation shortly. In a move to make space for the new construction, "Demolition of existing structures necessary for the new building footprint is scheduled to begin in August." According to the Statesville Police Department, following this, storm drain installation for the building expansion is anticipated to take place later in the same month.
In recognition of the community’s patience, the Statesville Police Department said, "We’re excited to see this project progressing and appreciate the community’s patience as we work to bring these much-needed improvements to the Statesville Police Department."
