Tragedy struck Caldwell Park in Stockton early yesterday morning when gunfire resulted in the death of 19-year-old Adrian Nov Ledesma, and left a 17-year-old boy wounded. The Stockton Police Department responded to a reported shooting around 12:12 a.m. at the park, situated on Allston Way. They found two individuals with gunshot wounds at the scene, as per details provided by KCRA.
The 19-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, while the teenager is reported to quickly be making a recovery in stable condition. This incident marks the 23rd homicide Stockton Police have investigated this year—a grim comparison to the 33 witnessed by this same date last year. In their ongoing pursuit for answers, homicide detectives have yet to recover any weapons from the scene, and the department urges anyone with information to come forward, according to reports from FOX40.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Adrian Nov Ledesma, a local of Stockton. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old's identity remains undisclosed. "As we all know, one is too many," David Scott, the public information officer for the Stockton Police Department, expressed the collective grieving sentiment, further stating that detectives are determined "to be working tirelessly to get answers to this homicide investigation," in a statement obtained by FOX40.
