A federal grand jury has indicted Jashanpreet Singh, 26, of Lodi, the founder of a Stockton-based outlaw motorcycle club, on multiple firearm charges. Singh is charged with unlawful dealing of firearms, possession of an unregistered short-barreled rifle, and unlawful possession of a machine gun, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
On June 6, Singh attempted to sell firearms to an undercover officer, including a short-barreled rifle, three assault weapons, three machine gun conversion devices, and a revolver. A search of his home later found a machine gun, another conversion device, a silencer, a "pineapple"-style hand grenade, and a suspected "claymore" mine, which the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s bomb team destroyed. Singh missed a court hearing last Monday, and a bench warrant was issued. Last Saturday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested him at San Francisco International Airport before he could board a flight to India. The operation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Homeland Security Investigations, and local law enforcement, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that Singh’s case is part of “Operation Take Back America,” a Department of Justice effort against illegal immigration and transnational crime linked to gun violence. The case is also connected to Project Safe Neighborhoods, which supports law enforcement in reducing gun violence through prevention programs and community partnerships. “If convicted of unlawful dealing in firearms, Singh faces a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine,” the office stated.
