Stow Group plans to establish a new manufacturing presence with a $36 million investment. This venture is expected to create around 200 jobs, bolstering the local economy. Governor Brian P. Kemp praised the decision, emphasizing Georgia's strong infrastructure and strategic location as key assets in drawing such industry heavyweights, as per the Governor's office.
Stow, a leading name in industrial storage and automation solutions, is rooted in Belgium and is currently growing its U.S. footprint. The company delivers on a diverse array of storage needs, catering to sectors like logistics, food and beverage, and life sciences. Dealing with complex warehousing challenges, Stow's expansion highlights Georgia as a player in the global logistics stage.
The new facility will stretch across 240,000 square feet and will start operations in 2026. It's set along Highway 41 and, as stow's CEO Jos De Vuyst put it, “Expanding our production footprint in the United States is a key milestone for stow Group. The new facility in Gordon County will allow us to serve our customers faster, enhance our local partnerships, and continue our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” a statement obtained by the Governor's press release.
A wide variety of new positions will be up for grabs, from production roles such as profiling, stamping, and welding to logistics and managerial jobs. The community development seems to be met with nothing but optimism from local authorities. Gordon County Administrator Jim Ledbetter mentioned, “The Development Authority, Gordon County Board of Commissioners, and the local community are pleased to see the innovation and use of advanced manufacturing technologies that stow brings to Gordon County.” This sentiment was mirrored by GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson, who lauded northwest Georgia's strategic position and manufacturing heritage as assets that align well with Stow's operations, as noted by the Governor's office.
Stow’s commitment to local engagement doesn’t end there. With the help of state and local partners, training plans are in the making to ensure a skilled workforce ready to take on the challenges of advanced manufacturing. Michael Morgenroth, the Plant Manager for stow’s future U.S. operations, shared his excitement about utilizing the latest technologies and creating rewarding career opportunities in the sector, according to the press release.
