Yesterday afternoon, a potentially devastating situation in Suisun City was averted thanks to a prompt response from local authorities. At approximately 1:30 pm, the Suisun City Police Department (SCPD) officers were called to a residential fire on the 1100 Block of Tioga Way. Details of the incident were shared through SCPD's social media post, where quick work by the police was noted.
Upon arrival, the officers contacted a suspect, who was later identified as a 55-year-old male from Suisun. The officers found the suspect armed, a complication to the already fraught scene set ablaze. He was subsequently arrested and faced charges, which include arson of an inhabited structure (PC 451(b)) and being armed with a firearm during the commission of a felony (PC 12022), as detailed in the SCPD's report.
There is some solace in the fact that no injuries were reported following the incident, and SCPD has assured that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The cause of the fire remains elusive and under investigation by the local authorities. SCPD is urging anyone with any information to come forward and contact SCPD Dispatch at 707-421-7373.
