In a tragic escalation of violence at Integris Health Center in Enid, Oklahoma, two people, including the suspect, were left dead after a shooting incident late Sunday night. Reports from KOCO indicate that the confrontation began as a domestic call near the hospital and quickly moved to the hospital's premises.
The situation escalated when the suspect's vehicle was located by Enid police at the hospital. Upon their attempt to engage, the suspect fired at officers, striking at least one officer's vehicle, but did not result in any police injuries. OSBI officials mentioned in KOCO's report that the suspect then entered the hospital, unleashing a barrage of gunfire, and ultimately killing a security guard not connected with the domestic disturbance. Within the confines of the health care facility, police engaged with the suspect, with fatal consequences for the assailant.
KFOR details further clarify that the incident may have originated from a domestic dispute in the vicinity before the suspect was traced to the hospital. Hunter McKee of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is quoted saying, "So when they found the vehicle and then located the suspect, that's then officers tried to engage the suspect and that's when the suspect fired at officers." No other injuries, apart from the demise of the victim and the suspect, have been reported thus far.
Adding to the narrative, News9's coverage reveals that a domestic call regarding gunshots led to the officer-involved shooting. An Enid Police Department statement recounts how the suspect fired at police upon their arrival then fled into the hospital where the altercation continued, with officers returning fire and the suspect succumbing to the injuries. The identity of the victims has not been disclosed, and, the public has been assured that there's no further threat.
