A man's life came to an abrupt end on Calumet Street, and now Houston police have wrapped up a suspect in the alleged crime. Omar Marzouk, 38, was arrested and charged with murder after a fatal shooting that took the life of Jimmy Arevalo, 32, in the early hours of Wednesday.
The confrontation turned violent outside a business where Arevalo was power washing. It was about 12:30 a.m. when the altercation occurred and escalated to the point of gunfire. Eyewitnesses claim Marzouk fled the scene in a gray Toyota Tundra following the incident, according to the City of Houston News.
Subsequent investigations led authorities to Marzouk, who was then charged by the Harris County District Attorney's Office. Yesterday, the day after the shooting, he was captured by the Southwest Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team and booked into the Harris County Jail. With the suspect now behind bars, the police are still gathering details to bolster their case.
