
On the evening of August 1, just before the clock ticked to signal the end of the day, a tragic incident shook the community on SE Easthampton Street in Clackamas County, near Happy Valley, where a 36-year-old man was fatally shot. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office reported to the scene after a woman's call to dispatchers indicated that her husband had been shot. Upon their arrival, 72-year-old David Lynn Jurgenson was found standing outside the residence.
Law enforcement had immediate cause to quickly take Jurgenson into custody as they suspected him of being the shooter. They subsequently ensured a woman and her small child were safely escorted from the home. In the living room, deputies discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite attempts to provide emergency medical aid, the man succumbed to his injuries.
As per the statement released on the official Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office website, detectives arrived at the location, where the investigation is still ongoing. According to authorities, there appears to be some known connection between Jurgenson and the victim.
Jurgenson was transported and booked into the Clackamas County Jail, where he was held without bail. The charges laid against him include Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
