Authorities have apprehended a suspect in a shoplifting incident at an Ulta Beauty store, thanks to the investigative efforts of both law enforcement and local social media. According to a Facebook post by Precinct 4, Cynthia Bentancourt is facing theft charges after allegedly stealing over $800 worth of merchandise on July 14, 2025.

Officials from Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the theft at the beauty retailer located in the 19500 block of the North Freeway. By utilizing video surveillance, Bentancourt was captured on camera concealing goods and leaving the store without payment, later managing to elude on-site authorities.

The break in the case came when Grizzy’s Hood News, a platform with a sizeable social media presence, stepped in. Their involvement led to the positive identification of Bentancourt, a convicted felon. After a detailed investigation—and the subsequent generation of criminal charges—an arrest warrant was expedited for her capture.

With the collaborative effort bearing fruit, the Constable's Special Operations and Canine Unit located the suspect last Saturday at a motel in the 8100 block of the Eastex Freeway, and Bentancourt was arrested. “Cynthia Bentancourt was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Theft. Her bond was set at $2,000.00 out of County Court 16,” as reported by Precinct 4.
