A case of grand theft was swiftly acted upon over the weekend, as shared by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on their official Facebook page. The station, prioritizing public safety for not only locals but visitors too, was contacted after a man from Nevada had his belongings stolen when he briefly left a bag unattended. Situated at the juncture of Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road in Valencia, "the bag contained cell phones and wallets," seemingly an irresistible draw for the opportunistic thief.
Deputies responded quickly and detained a suspect in a nearby parking lot. The woman was found with the Nevada visitor’s belongings, along with several credit cards and driver’s licenses that did not belong to her. Investigators said some of the stolen credit cards had already been used for purchases at local businesses. According to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, the suspect also had burglary tools and drug paraphernalia in her possession, leading to multiple charges.
The Sheriff's Station revealed that the suspect, a 38-year-old woman from Hesperia, is facing multiple charges. Elevated to the level of felony grand theft, the suspect has been charged with theft by access card, on top of misdemeanor charges for the burglary tools and drug paraphernalia found in her possession. She has been booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station jail, where she remains, being held without bail.
