An hours-long standoff in East Sacramento County came to an end when the Sacramento County Sheriff's SWAT team and a K9 unit apprehended a suspect following an alleged assault. According to a social media post from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the incident began around 10 AM when 36-year-old Ryan Brabec allegedly attacked his roommate with a glass bottle, then barricaded himself inside a home on the 3800 block of Moonbeam Drive.

Following the initial confrontation, the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail tried to quickly diffuse the standoff through negotiations, which ultimately proved unsuccessful. It was at this point that the Sheriff's SWAT team decided to deploy CS gas in an effort to bring the situation under control. "Sheriff’s K9 Tito successfully brought the standoff to an end by taking Brabec into custody," the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office reported.

Brabec, who is expected to be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail upon medical clearance, will face charges in connection with the assault and the subsequent events. The Sheriff's Office has indicated that his booking photo will be made available to the public through their online system once the booking process is completed.
