
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of Andrew Grant, 28, for the alleged sexual assault and kidnapping of a woman in Tampa. The incident, which took place at the suspect's residence, emerged into public knowledge after the victim escaped and sought help, prompting an investigation that began on July 30.
After the victim provided details of the ordeal, detectives discovered that she had been sexually battered, and held against her will by Grant. On August 1; Grant was taken into custody, facing charges of Sexual Battery and False Imprisonment. The Sheriff's Office endorses the bravery of the victim in coming forward, a move that has potentially safeguarded the community from further acts committed by the accused.
In a statement obtained by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Chad Chronister voiced his stance on the matter, declaring, "Sexual violence has no place in our community, and we will seek justice for survivors." He lauded the victim's courage, asserting, "We commend this victim for coming forward so we could remove this predator from our streets."
