Earlier today in Tampa were marred by a hit-and-run incident that left a bicyclist gravely injured. According to the Tampa Police, at approximately 2:30 am, a silver SUV collided with a bicyclist on Dale Mabry Highway, near Mango Avenue. The aftermath of the collision sent an adult white male to the hospital with serious injuries, his condition now stable.
The Tampa authorities have been on the hunt for the suspect, who was last seen driving the 2019 Chevy Equinox, bearing the Florida license plate JUVE12, in an easterly direction on W. El Prado Blvd. Reports from the scene indicate that the SUV, while traveling northbound on Dale Mabry Hwy, struck the bicyclist at the intersection with W Mango Ave, before the driver chose to flee rather than face the consequence of their action.
As investigators sift through the puzzle of this crime, northbound traffic had to be rerouted away from Mango Ave to allow a thorough examination of the scene. This detour, though necessary, was temporary, and the city's arteries have since resumed their normal flow.
The public plea for anyone with information on the silver SUV or the accident has been steady—with "detectives continue to follow leads in this case to locate and arrest the driver" the department insists, firmly, that this narrative will close with justice served.
