A jury in Tarrant County has handed down a 20-year sentence to 29-year-old April Guy for the crime of manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance. The sentence was finalized after Guy was found guilty during her latest court appearance.
According to a social media post by the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office, the conviction stems from an incident on August 22, 2024. Guy was initially pulled over on a felony warrant, and the officers discovered a lunchbox inside her vehicle; it contained not only bags of crack cocaine but also digital scales and a loaded handgun, in a car that was filled with the aroma of marijuana.
It appears from the law enforcement's account that this conviction is not Guy's first encounter with the legal system. Mentioned in the District Attorney's social media post was Guy's "extensive criminal history" and the fact that she had absconded from her last trial date, painting a picture of an individual repeatedly clashing with the criminal justice system.
