Tragedy struck a West Covina neighborhood this weekend when gunfire erupted at a house party, killing a 16-year-old boy. According to KTLA, the incident occurred Saturday night with over 100 teenagers in attendance. Witnesses told reporters that the chaos began around 10 p.m., and video footage displayed a significant police presence, including a helicopter and K-9 units, at the home located at Peachtree Lane and East Camellia Drive.
Initial reports from the scene showed multiple people being detained and a handgun alongside a lone shoe marked as evidence. Amid the disorder, an individual was captured on video spitting toward the camera, while another shouted profanities. However, the true cost of the evening's events became clear when NBC Los Angeles reported that a teenage boy had been fatally shot after a fight escalated. The victim was rushed to the hospital by friends but sadly died due to his injuries. The Covina Police Department disclosed that the party had been heavily promoted on social media, yet authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting as the investigation continues.
Police recovered a firearm at the scene and detained two individuals for questioning, as stated by NBC Los Angeles. No arrests have been reported in connection with the shooting.
