
A teenager was killed in a pedestrian accident yesterday afternoon on Jacksonville’s Northside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed. According to News4JAX, the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on Biscayne Boulevard when a northbound Toyota pickup struck the teen.
Emergency services transported the victim to a hospital where they were pronounced dead, Action News Jax reported.
Biscayne Boulevard was temporarily closed for investigation and reopened within the hour. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. First Coast News noted that the crash marks the 100th traffic fatality in Jacksonville this year, including 19 pedestrian deaths.
JSO Sergeant Robert Hungerford extended condolences to the family and stressed driver caution as the school year begins. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
