In a somber report from Huntington Beach, authorities are piecing together the details of a tragic traffic collision that left one teenager dead and several others injured. The incident occurred on Sunday night near the intersection of Edinger Ave and Beach Blvd. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD), three vehicles were involved: a silver Honda Accord, a white Lexus RX, and a silver Lexus GS.
The calamity unfolded around 8:11 p.m., with the Honda Accord, driven by a 44-year-old Santa Ana woman, weaving into the oncoming traffic, ultimately striking the Lexus RX. Two 15-year-old girls, passengers in the Accord, were rushed to a local hospital. One of them, hailing from Westminster, could not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead, the officials reported. Her companion's injuries are deemed non-life-threatening, as reported by the Huntington Beach Police Department. On the other end, the drivers of the Lexus vehicles, aged 23 and 75 respectively, suffered only minor injuries. HBPD suspects impairment on the part of the Accord's driver.
The collision triggered an immediate response from the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT), which is conducting a thorough inquiry into the unfortunate event. The preliminary investigation points to the Honda Accord moving westward on Edinger Avenue and colliding head-on with the Lexus in the eastbound lane.
