The Department of Public Works alongside Cushnie Construction, are rolling out plans for a temporary bridge over Olokauha Stream, targeting completion this December. The current bridge is getting a complete shutdown to vehicular traffic while the crews dig in, as reported yesterday, August 12 by the Kauai County press release.
No additional road closures should hit the books for now, although construction-related sprawl will take up extra space right next to the bridge. Pedestrians won't need to reroute their pathways since foot traffic gets the green light to continue crossing. If plans take a detour or adjustments become necessary, the county has vowed to keep the public posted.
