Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport expects up to 1.4 million passengers from August 28 to September 2, according to CBS News. Travelers should arrive two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international flights because of terminal congestion and construction at Terminal B. Domestic travel bookings for Labor Day weekend are up 9% from last year, and gas prices are 46 cents lower than last year, though Gulf hurricanes could still affect prices.
AAA Texas advises travelers to avoid roads on Thursday and Friday afternoons and early evenings, and to start early on Sunday or Monday to avoid holiday traffic. "Even with a slight uptick ahead of Labor Day, Texans have enjoyed stable gas prices throughout much of the summer driving season," said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. He added, "As we transition into fall, drivers may see some additional relief at the pump, though hurricane activity or global events could still cause sudden price swings," as mentioned by CW39.
